Lufia DS comes to US
Estpolis: The Lands Cursed by the Gods is coming to North America, but Square Enix isn’t handling it. Harvest Moon and Witch’s Wish publisher Natsume is. A fitting choice considering Natsume published Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals for the Super Nintendo. The Nintendo DS game is a remake of Rise of the Sinistrals.
In North America, Estpolis will be known as Lufia: Curse of the Sinistrals. A Twitter post announced the title and says more information is coming soon. While you’re waiting check out this trailer from the Japanese version.

So I was lurking around a used movie/game store yesterday and guess what I found, people.
LUFIA. And the Fortress of DOOM. (for $20!)
And as I cried my way through the opening, I couldn't help but think; they had this planned
. Maxim and his crew were going to get their own game. But it was going to be done prequel style, and it would make us shed manly tears.
Am I wrong in this thinking? Discuss.
(ps, there might be spoilers) Current Mood: devious

From the interview:
# Square Enix asked them if they would like to do a new Estpolis game
# The second game’s system was a lot more refined, the scenario and music were well liked, and it took place before the first game too, so we decided to use the second game as the motif (Kojima Hajime)
# We didn’t want to do a straight port (Ukeda Naoyuki)
# Square Enix told us that we’re free to do whatever we ant (Ukeda)
# So that’s what we’ll do! (Ukeda)
# Turn based command battle systems aren’t new anymore, so we’re making it an action rpg now (Kojima)
# It’s not just a remake, we’re rebuilding the story, the characters, and the world settings (Miyata Masahide)
# The hadou weapons will be a key component of the story, the world is different from the SFC version (Miyata)
# The bottom screen will only be used to switch characters (Kojima)
# The game will revolve around the D-pad more than the touch pen (Kojima)
# Boss battles will use two screens, it has its own special code for that part (Ukeda)
# Boss battles will be hard if you don’t know what to do against each one of them (Miyata)
# “It will satisfy action game players, but players that are bad with action games will be okay too” by Kojima
# Scenario is based on the second game, there are parts where we are deliberately letting them say the exact same words as in the original game (Miyata)
# But basically, everything is rewritten (Miyata)
# The number of towns that are appearing in the game is different from the original two games (Miyata)
# There will be parts in the game which will make fans of the series smile (Miyata)
# Miyata has surprisingly not changed at all. He’s just embarrassed reading his scenario from 15 years ago (Ukeda)
# The music is being brought over from the original two games (Ukeda)
# We changed the sound quality without messing with the melody line (Ukeda)
# The main staff from the SFC versions are making this game. It’s rare to have something like that 15 years after the last game (Ukeda)
# Stuff such as “Mahou no XXXX Magical XXXXXX” from the original are still in the game (Kojima)
# We changed a lot in the game, but we constantly kept in our minds that “we should keep the parts that made the series what it is” (Kojima)

Anyone else have any special name that they always call the nameless hero in Lufia I?
I usually just name him "Max" because of my childhood friends. They introduced me to Lufia and had given him that name. Then, when we all used to pretend we were the characters, that was the name we used. It just stuck over the years.
If I don't actually use Max, I name him after some random RPG/Anime character for kicks. Current Mood: artistic

So, I completely forgot I was in this community, but I have something very relevant to post ^_^
I had my 21st birthday in late April, and a good friend of mine gave me what I had decided years ago is the best gift anyone could ever give me (and I didn't even ask for it!): a Lufia II cartridge! I'm still slightly in shock that I got one of my favorite games of all time, I haven't played it since I was in middle school. I'm about 10 hours in, and at least half way through. Yaaaay~
Lufia was one of my favorite games back in Elementary School and the series has been one of my favorites of all time (topping a lot of more popular ones). I've just randomly stumbled myself into a return obsession with it; gonna play the games for old times sake probably over the summer.
I wish I could find those pictures of me in the sixth grade when I actually went as Lufia for Halloween (more based on her in-game sprite since the actual cartridge I played belonged to a friend, and the only real art was on the front of the box), even though my hair wasn't quite right (my mother thought she could spray paint it, even though my hair is extremely dark...first of many cosplay mistakes). Current Mood: energetic

That's just too cool
I've been on Livejournal for years and I have never once thought to look for a Lufia community. Hopefully you guys still keep an eye on this. I need friends to justify my dorky high school screen name! :p
So anyway, has anyone ever actually gotten all the Iris treasures and defeated the Red Jelly? I remember websites, years ago, that explained what to do and how to do it. But that required a lot of work. Saved-state on emulators only got me so far. You had to do the Ancient Cave multiple times to get enough blue-treasure equipment to survive the lower levels. In all these years, I've never gotten the patience to try again. Current Mood: amused

Figured this be worth a shot...
I was uh doing a challenge run for this game and I booted up my zsnes to find that my save vanished. My other two ones were intact and perfectly fine. So... If any of you happen to have save after the wedding scene(or slightly before) ,but before going into the tower. That'd be awesome. Actually as long as it's after the clowns it'll be fine. Don't worry about having anything/too much crap. I'm pretty sure I can buy all the initial Equipment from stores ,which is the only thing that matters. I reallllyyyyy don't want to fight the tarantula and clowns again.
/shot in the dark.

My Lufia...my dear Lufia has abandonned me. I WAS NEARLY AT THE 50% MARK! But that ROM was a FRAUD! It kept resetting...just like that. After I killed those clown bitches. It's the end for me. I don't think I'll make it. And then I'll have to play more Dragon Quest 8! THE HORROR! Current Mood: depressed

A/N: Just in case you haven't noticed, these are drabbles. Drabbles are fanfiction less than six-hundred words long, though many authors set different limits for themselves. For these drabbles, I am writing pieces 200 words or less. This drabble's theme is "Breastplate" though it's not the main focus this time. Also, I wrote this on a medicined stupor. --; Oh. And don't ever wake up your significant other in the middle of the night to talk. Beta needed badly!
I need a beta reader for my Lufia fanfiction.
I'm working on A Second Adventure's
second chapter...but I need someone to look at the flow, grammatical mistakes, but I need someone who knows Lufia so they can look for plot flaws, plot holes, and plot errors!
If you are interested, comment here, or email me (firstname.lastname@example.org).
